Zafiri is a permanent capital investment vehicle providing long-term equity to expand clean energy access across sub-Saharan Africa. Managed by Inspired Evolution and backed by founding partners including the IFC, the African Development Bank, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Trade and Development Bank Group and the Nordic Development Fund, Zafiri channels catalytic capital into distributed renewable energy companies, mini-grid developers, solar-home system providers and clean cooking enterprises, that are vital to last-mile access yet underserved by mainstream markets. With an initial capitalisation of USD 300 million scaling towards a USD 1 billion target, Zafiri aims to bring electricity and clean cooking to more than 30 million people, advancing the goals of Mission 300, the World Bank Group and African Development Bank initiative to bring electricity access to 300 million people in sub-Saharan Africa by 2030.
