IPP Office Announced as Overall Summit Sponsor of the 2025 Youth Energy Summit (YES!)
The IPP Office, a key institution driving South Africa’s energy transition, has consistently prioritised youth and community development in its work. From delivering large-scale renewable energy projects to fostering job creation and skills development, the Office’s mission goes beyond power generation—it’s about powering people.
We’re delighted to announce the IPP Office as the Overall Summit Sponsor of the 2025 Youth Energy Summit (YES!), set to welcome some 3,000 graduates, early-career professionals, and entrepreneurs to Cape Town this June.
Dzunani Makgopa, CFO of the IPP Office, shared:
“Renewable energy is the way to go, not just nationally, but globally. YES! is a great platform to introduce young professionals to the sector. This is the place to be, and we need to empower many youth to take advantage of the opportunities within the energy sector.”
In a further demonstration of its commitment to youth and sector-wide transformation, the IPP Office will also join as a Country Host Sponsor at the Africa Energy Forum, which will take place alongside YES! in Cape Town this June.
Enabling South Africa’s energy sector through youth and community development has always been at the core of the IPP Office’s activities, and this investment into Africa’s youth is a testament to the importance the Office places on long-term engagement through the deals and programmes it delivers on behalf of the government.
Simon Gosling commented:
“From the creation of the IPP Office, it has been apparent that community engagement and job creation are strategically important for the Office and the deals it is making. This commitment from the IPP Office to sponsor the Youth Energy Summit is an extension of those policies. It is strategically designed to expose thousands of young people to the vast, varied and many opportunities within the South African IPP and energy universe. It’s a very exciting time for young people looking to take a more productive role in energy!”
The President of Madagascar, AfDB Nominee for President Amadou Hott, and AU Commissioner for Energy and Infrastructure, H.E. Lerato D. Mataboge, will join the IPP Office to open the Youth Energy Summit on Wednesday, June 18th. We hope you’ll join us, too, as we continue to put youth engagement at the heart of the energy access story.
