The EBRD is investing in changing people’s lives. Since it was founded in 1991, the Bank has invested over €225 billion across more than 7,900 projects. In Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia alone, it has deployed a combined total of €23.8 billion since 2012.

With a strong focus on the private sector, the EBRD supports projects and policy dialogue that drive innovation and enhance economic competitiveness. Its work contributes to building economies that are well governed, green, inclusive, resilient and increasingly integrated.

In 2025, the Bank started operations in sub-Saharan Africa, launching activities in Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Nigeria and Senegal, and investing over €300 million to date.

The EBRD is owned by 77 countries from five continents, as well as the European Union and the European Investment Bank.
