West Africa LNG Group CEO Cem Hacioglu highlights how aligning “people and maths” has been critical to advancing LNG development in Guinea. While energy demand is clear across the continent, making projects bankable required strong government intervention – establishing clear agreements and ensuring mining companies commit to value-added, energy-intensive operations supported by LNG.

The interview stresses that predictability and transparency are essential to unlocking private capital. By working closely with the Guinean government to create a stable regulatory framework and secure credible offtake, the project has reduced investor risk and strengthened confidence. Hacioglu underscores that successful delivery depends on effective public-private partnerships, backed by committed governments and credible, capable industry partners – offering a model that can be replicated across Africa’s energy and industrial sectors.
