Africa Energy Forum – 2025

For the first time in its 27 years, the Africa Energy Forum was held in Cape Town, South Africa under the enchanting shadow of Table Mountain and in the heart of one of the most active energy development centres in Africa.
Under the theme ‘Africa United’, aef provided a strong platform to bring African stakeholders together with a united voice and declare what Africa wants and needs to the world. This was the perfect opportunity to amplify the message from aef to the G20 meetings hosted by South Africa this year.
The Africa Challenge Cup
aef 2025 saw the return of the aef Africa Cup Football Tournament. Delegates were invited to a once in a lifetime opportunity to play a match at the DHL stadium.
With some 6,000+ attendees across aef and YES!, this years Challenge Cup tested four teams as they battled it out over two matches under the floodlights of Africa’s number one football pitch, the Cape Town DHL Stadium.
Looking into the future, aef is building its legacy with YES! (Youth Energy Summit). To electrify the continent of 1.5 billion people, home to the world’s fastest-growing youth population, it is essential to include Africa’s young people in the conversation. With 4,000 youth attending, the support of South Africa’s IPP Office and the home-grown success story – Pele Green, YES! will be the biggest and most impactful gathering of youth in the energy sector worldwide!
