Nant Power
Nant Power is a landmark independent power project under construction just outside Freetown, designed to deliver 108.4 MW of cleaner, reliable baseload electricity to Sierra Leone’s national grid. As the country’s first large-scale gas-fired combined-cycle plant, Nant will strengthen grid stability, reduce reliance on costly diesel generation, and support Sierra Leone’s Just Energy Transition and Green Growth ambitions.
Developed by TCQ Power and Anergi Group plc in partnership with the Government of Sierra Leone, the project reached financial close in November 2024, with long-term financing led by the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID). Construction is being executed by Shapoorji Pallonji using high-efficiency combined-cycle technology, with fuel supplied by BB Energy through imported LPG from the United States.
Beyond power generation, Nant is advancing a broader gas value chain. The project has signed an MoU to develop LNG infrastructure to serve the Mano River region—supporting energy security, industrial growth, and regional trade over time.
Above all, Nant Power is built around safety, sustainability, and inclusive growth: creating jobs during construction, transferring skills to local teams, and enabling more reliable electricity for homes, businesses, schools, and clinics. First power is targeted for Q3 2027, starting in Freetown.
