Sustainability at the Zimbabwe-Zambia Energy Projects Summit

In line with EnergyNet’s core values around sustainability at Zim Zam 2025 we are committed to minimising the environmental and social impact of the event, while promoting sustainable practices throughout the conference delivery.

Below is an outline of how we will embed sustainability through our operations at the Radisson Blu Mosi‑oa‑Tunya Livingstone Resort, Zambia:

Venue Sustainability: Radisson Blu Mosi‑oa‑Tunya, Livingstone

We have chosen to host ZimZam in Radisson Blu’s Livingstone resort – one of the most advanced properties in the region with respect to environmental design and operational sustainability. Having received the ‘Best Eco-Friendly resort in Africa’ Award in 2025 HGC Awards, Radisson Blu is renowned for it’s sustainability efforts. We will leverage and extend these existing strengths to deliver a more sustainable ZimZam.

Participants & Exhibitors

We are encouraging all participants and exhibitors to adopt environmentally conscious practices throughout the event. Digital materials will be used in place of printed handouts wherever possible, and shared transport options will be arranged to reduce travel emissions. Event badges and lanyards will be made with a strict avoidance of single-use plastics, for a more sustainable attendee experience.

Organisers & Contractors

To minimise transportation emissions, we are prioritising local contractors and suppliers. Throughout the event key sustainability indicators including waste, energy, water usage, and emissions will be actively monitored and tracked, allowing us to measure performance and continuously improve our environmental responsibility.

Carbon Footprint Monitoring

To better understand and manage the event’s environmental impact, data will be collected across key areas including energy consumption, transportation, catering, waste, and materials to calculate and monitor the event’s overall carbon footprint. This will enable us to identify opportunities for improvement and set measurable sustainability targets for future events.

Energy Efficiency

In alignment with EnergyNet’s values and commitment to energy efficiency, we have carefully selected a venue that incorporates energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems. To further optimise energy performance, our team will coordinate with the venue’s engineers to ensure that all spaces where possible operate using LED lighting and maintain optimal temperature control. Reducing overall energy consumption throughout the event.

Waste Management & Recycling

Effective waste management is a key pillar of our sustainability strategy. Throughout the venue, we will provide clearly labelled waste bins to facilitate the segregation of recyclables, general waste, and organic materials . Additionally, all leftover signage, printed materials, and non-food items will be collected for donation or reuse through local community groups and partner NGOs.

Materials, Signage & Branding

We are committed to responsible material selection and sustainable branding practices. All printed materials will be printed with minimal use of lamination, plastics, and other non-recyclable elements. Our goal is to maintain a professional and visually engaging event environment while reducing material waste and environmental impact across all areas of the summit.
