Women in Mining
Women in Mining in Nigeria (WIMIN) is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation established in 2006 to promote women’s inclusion, participation, and leadership across Nigeria’s mineral exploration and mining sector.
Through community engagement, research, capacity building, strategic dialogue, advocacy, and partnerships, WIMIN works to advance gender equality, economic empowerment, and responsible mining practices while creating opportunities for women across the mining value chain.
Guided by the principles of equity, human rights, and sustainability, WIMIN advocates for the protection of vulnerable groups, particularly women and children affected by mining activities, including artisanal and small-scale mining. The organisation promotes collaboration and meaningful community engagement to foster an inclusive mining industry and sustainable community development.
