JA and MBHE Valley Acres partner on commercial solar and storage in Zimbabwe and Zambia

JA and MBHE Valley Acres have signed an agreement at the Zimbabwe-Zambia Energy Projects Summit in Livingstone to take commercial and industrial solar and storage projects from development through to operation and maintenance, with Podium Energy providing finance for several projects that are now ready to build.

Several commercial and industrial (C&I) solar projects have reached financial close and are ready to build under the partnership, which was signed on 4 November at the Zimbabwe-Zambia Energy Projects Summit in Livingstone and brings JA, which describes itself as one of the world’s top five Tier 1 PV manufacturers, together with a local developer that has worked in the region for almost a decade.

The partners expect the agreement to grow the region’s C&I renewable energy sector, with the potential to expand further, as MBHE Valley Acres draws on JA’s technical expertise and global experience and brings its own knowledge of the local market.

Under the agreement, JA will provide technical expertise and design support and will supervise construction and commissioning on the projects it co-develops with MBHE Valley Acres, which will also provide EPC services and run the operation and maintenance of the solar plants, with Podium Energy as financing partner.
