Infinity Power signs a 25-year PPA for 1GW of wind in the Gulf of Suez

Ras Shokeir will cover around 143 square kilometres of Egypt’s Red Sea Governorate, and the power purchase agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company runs for twenty-five years. It is the third agreement between EETC and the Infinity Power and Hassan Allam Utilities consortium since November 2025.

One gigawatt of wind will be built across roughly 143 square kilometres of Egypt’s Red Sea Governorate, under a twenty-five year power purchase agreement signed between the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company and a consortium of Infinity Power and Hassan Allam Utilities Energy.

Mona Rizk, chairperson of EETC, signed with Nayer Fouad, co-founder and chief executive of Infinity Power and chairman of Ras Shokeir Wind Energy Company. Adel El Hariry and Hamida El-Sanea attended for EETC, with Hisham El Gamal and Mokhtar AbulAta for Infinity Power and Omar Hosny for Hassan Allam Utilities.

Ras Shokeir sits in the Gulf of Suez corridor, where Egypt’s wind resource is strongest. Once running, the developers expect it to supply more than 1.2 million Egyptian homes and avoid over 1.36 million tonnes of carbon dioxide a year.

The same two companies have been signing with EETC repeatedly. In November 2025 they agreed two projects with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy and EETC carrying a combined 1.2GW of solar and 720MWh of battery storage. In June, Infinity Power and AIKO Energy contracted to supply photovoltaic modules to the 1.2GWp Nefer Minya solar project, again with Hassan Allam Utilities Energy as project partner.

Infinity Power operates through a joint venture between Infinity Group and Masdar and holds 1.3GW of solar and onshore wind across South Africa, Egypt and Senegal, with a 13.8GW pipeline including battery storage and green hydrogen. Its consortium with Masdar signed a 200MW onshore wind PPA with EETC at Ras Ghareb in the same corridor in 2024.

Egypt has been contracting offtake at pace across technologies. EETC signed a twenty-five year dollar-denominated agreement with Scatec in January covering 1.95GW of solar and 3.9GWh of battery storage at Minya, which is expected to reach financial close before the end of this year. The country launched its first utility-scale battery in 2025, a 300MWh facility at a 500MW solar plant in Aswan, and has committed more than a billion dollars to its transmission network.
