Côte d’Ivoire shortlists developers for 200MW of solar backed by 66MWh of storage
Developers have been shortlisted for two 100MWp solar plants at Dabakala and Niakaramandougou, each paired with 33MWh of battery storage, under 25-year independent power producer concessions. The procurement sits inside a national target of 45% renewables in the electricity mix by 2030.

Senegal sets $690m against 6,471 villages still without electricity
Senegal's energy minister told a briefing in Dakar on 1 October that the state will invest close to 400 billion CFA francs to electrify 6,471 localities by 2029. The commitment follows a September in which Dakar lost around 200MW from a single plant failure during a heatwave.

What Guinea’s €269.5m from EBID adds to a grid that already exports
Guinea signed three loan agreements worth €269.5 million with the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development in Conakry on 10 September, covering health, transport and energy. The country already sells 1,174GWh a year into Senegal, The Gambia and Guinea-Bissau under bilateral contracts.

DFC equity investing in Africa to expand, with critical minerals in the pipeline
The US International Development Finance Corporation will make more direct equity investments in Africa, including in critical minerals, its regional managing director for Africa, Vibhuti Jain, has told Reuters. The DFC already has more than $14bn committed across the continent, with over $3bn of it in critical minerals.

Cyprus gas to Egypt gets a ministerial push to speed up the Cronos link
Egypt's petroleum minister Karim Badawi and Cypriot energy minister Michael Damianos have pressed to speed up the work connecting the Cronos field to Egypt's infrastructure, after Eni and TotalEnergies took a final investment decision in July. Badawi told an East Mediterranean Gas Forum roundtable in Greece that the partnership had reached projects on the ground.

Tanzania electricity connections: CRDB Bank takes on the TZS27,000 fee in rural areas
TANESCO and CRDB Bank have launched a scheme in which the bank pays the TZS27,000 connection fee for households in rural Tanzania, and urban customers can spread their connection costs in instalments. Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi attended the signing in Dar es Salaam on 2 October.
