Under the theme Building Regional Resilience, the third annual West Africa Energy Cooperation Summit (WAECS) will bring together the 16 countries of West Africa and its neighbours in productive discussions on how the region and the public and private sector can work in collaboration to unleash its energy potential.
The Ghana Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced its official patronage of and participation in the West Africa Energy Cooperation Summit 2027.
“Hosting WAECS reflects Ghana’s enduring commitment to regional energy cooperation, sustainable development and just energy transition, The Summit provides a strategic platform to mobilise investment and deepen collaboration across West Africa in line with the ECOWAS Integration agenda and Ghana’s own vision of becoming a regional hub.
WAECS offers an exceptional opportunity for both local and international stakeholders to explore emerging energy investment prospects in renewables, gas to power, regional interconnectivity and digitalisation while facilitating new partnerships and strengthening existing alliances. Bringing together such a diverse and influential energy community under one roof will help galvanise action towards concrete transformational outcomes for the sector.
We are also pleased that the YES! On The Road Ghana will be hosted alongside WAECS. This emphasis is in line with Ghana’s emphasis on youth empowerment and skills empowerment under it energy transition framework. It will empower and inspire the next generation of African energy leaders by connecting young talents with seasoned, mentors, innovators and investors.”
H.E. Honourable John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Ghana
